William Rosenthal

William I. Rosenthal, 97, of West Orange died Jan. 16, 2015. Born in Newark, he lived in Orange and then in South Orange for 45 years before moving to West Orange 21 years ago.

Mr. Rosenthal was the president of Association Benefits Agency, a group insurance brokerage firm, from 1950 until his retirement in 1996.

He was a member of the national board of CLU (Chartered Life Underwriters) and had served as a past president of its Newark chapter.

He served in the U.S. Army Medical Corps as a lieutenant from 1942 to 1945.

A past president of Jewish Vocational Service of MetroWest, he was a member of the board of trustees of JCC MetroWest and United Way of Essex County.

He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Harriet; two daughters, Julie and Susan (William Kleinman); two sons, David (Joan) and Richard; and five grandchildren.

Services were held Jan. 18 with arrangements by Bernheim-Apter-Kreitzman Suburban Funeral Chapel, Livingston.
