Yachad offers monthly speaker series

Yachad, the Orthodox Union’s organization for people with disabilities, is running a series of speakers who offer inspiration to families. The sessions are being held each month and feature noted Jewish speakers, including Rabbi Judah Mischel, Rabbi Paysach Krohn, and Rebbetzin Aviva Feiner.

Nearly 100 families joined a midday session in late March featuring Rabbi Mischel. The next talk, set for Tuesday, April 27, at 8:30 p.m., features Rabbi Paysach Krohn, who will talk about “Inspired Parenting.” Through relevant and touching stories, Rabbi Krohn will discuss values, attitudes, and perspectives that can guide parents. The third and last session, which is for women only, will be on Tuesday, May 25, at 8:30 p.m., as Rebbetzin Aviva Feiner presents a shiur called “Growing From Challenge.” The rebbetzin, who is an educator and inspirational speaker, will talk about her own challenging life experiences and use Torah sources and insights that speak to both mind and spirit. “In pre-covid times, after the holiday of Pesach, Yachad families would begin to look forward to our annual family shabbaton, an event full of growth and support for one another,” Chani Herrmann, Yachad’s associate director, said. “While this year safety precautions will still inhibit our ability to spend a weekend connecting with and strengthening one another at the family retreat, these trying times have made the chizzuk the event provides all the more longed for. Our goal in the virtual series is to give our Yachad families multiple opportunities for inspiration and chizzuk over the course of monthly sessions.”
