Arnold Levin
Arnold B. Levin of Long Branch died Jan. 22, 2014.
Mr. Levin practiced law in Monmouth County for over 47 years, holding a variety of positions such as Assistant Prosecutor from 1968 through 1970. He was a member of the Monmouth County Ethics Committee and the Supreme Court Committee on the Unauthorized Practice of Law, which he chaired for approximately 15 years. In 1971, he became the first Democratic councilman elected in West Long Branch in 40 years, and went on to be appointed its Municipal Court judge.
He graduated from Asbury Park High School in 1957 at the age of 15. He graduated from Rutgers University and Seton Hall Law School. He served as a class officer for Rutgers’ class of 1961 and recently volunteered on the 50th reunion committee.
He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Rita; three daughters, Laura (Larry) Shapiro of West Long Branch, Julie (Frank) Manley of Sanford, Mich., and Susan (Christopher) Koegel of Winchester, Mass.; two brothers, Lewis Levin of Barnegat and Levi Lehv of Monsey, NY; and five granddaughters.
Services were held Jan. 24 with arrangements by Bloomfield-Cooper Jewish Chapels, Ocean. Memorial contributions may be made to Meridian Hospice or Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center.
