Barbara Ruth Brenner
Barbara Ruth Brenner, 88, of Gainesville, Va., died Dec. 23, 2011. She was born in Trenton.
Mrs. Brenner spent more than 22 years teaching in the Bucks County, Pa., school district. She later served as a substitute teacher in Virginia.
She earned her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in education at Trenton State College.
She and her second husband were instrumental in the creation of the Gainesville community library that now bears the Brenner name.
Predeceased by her first husband, Frank Weiss, and her second husband, Bernard Brenner, she is survived by her son, James Weiss of El Sobrante, Calif.; two stepsons, Eliot Brenner of Annandale, Va., and Kyd Brenner of Washington, DC; a granddaughter; a stepgranddaughter; and two great-granddaughters.
Services were held Dec. 29 with arrangements by Orland’s Ewing Memorial Chapel, Ewing. Memorial contributions may be made to a public library, Planned Parenthood, or Vitas Hospice Charitable Fund, Tyson’s Pond II, Suite 450, 1604 Springhill Rd., Vienna, VA 22182.
