Bardin Levavy

Bardin C. Levavy of Maplewood died June 15, 2018. 

An attorney, in 1987 Mr. Bardin was co-counsel with James Boskey for Dolores and Murray Putzer in their successful fight for Mr. Putzer’s right to die; the case received national attention and was part of a larger dialogue on the legal rights of patients in persistent vegetative states.

He helped lead reunion efforts at his alma maters, Rutgers Preparatory School (1960), Johns Hopkins University (1964), and Harvard Law School (1967). He also achieved ABD status in English literature at New York University in 1969. 

He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Sue-Ellen; his son, Rafi of New York City; and his daughter, Sara of Pittsfield, Mass. 

Services were held June 17 with arrangements by J.L. Apter Memorial Chapels of Maplewood. Memorial contributions may be made to Marlboro Music Festival, 1528 Walnut St., Philadelphia, PA 19102 or the Cantor Mills Music Fund at Oheb Shalom Congregation, South Orange.
