Barnet Epstein
Barnet H. Epstein, 91, of Maplewood died May 31, 2014. Born in Elizabeth, he lived in Mendham for 24 years before moving to Maplewood in 2012.
Mr. Epstein, a self-employed attorney, was a member of the bar from 1948 until his retirement in 2008.
A member of the New Jersey Bar Council, he served as president of the Union County Bar Association for two years and was a member of the Board of Education in Elizabeth for nine years. For five years, he had served as president of Temple B’nai Israel in Elizabeth; at the time of his death, he was a member of Congregation B’nai Israel of Millburn.
He served during World War II as an Army Air Corps Sergeant weather forecaster.
He is survived by his wife, Rosylin; two daughters, Patricia Rosenberg and Barbara Shindler; three sons, Jules, Bruce, and Richard Epstein; 12 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Services were held June 2 with arrangements by Bernheim-Apter-Kreitzman Suburban Funeral Chapel, Livingston.
