Beatrice Lewis
Beatrice “Bea” Lewis, 89, of Murray Hill died Nov. 18, 2013.
Ms. Lewis began her career as a dancer and piano teacher in a studio above her family’s grocery store. She also danced professionally in New York City.
A passionate artist, she had her first studio in the family’s home in Westfield and her final studio adjacent to her Murray Hill home. During her most prolific period in the 1960s-70s, her work was exhibited in numerous galleries and many solo shows.
She attended New York University.
Predeceased by her husband of 34 years, Seymour Simon Goldan, in 1942, she is survived by two sons, Barry Kenneth Goldan and Glenn Gilbert Goldan; her twin son and daughter, Ronald Harry Goldan and Bonnie Sue Chandler; 12 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
Services were held Nov. 21 with arrangements by Bernheim-Apter-Kreitzman Suburban Funeral Chapel, Livingston. Memorial contributions may be made to B’nai B’rith or Atlantic Home Care Hospice Service.
