Bernard Maged
Bernard Maged, 85, of Pompton Plains died Nov. 5, 2010. Born in Jersey City, he also had lived in Boynton Beach, Fla.
Prior to his retirement, Mr. Maged had worked in sales for Windsor Products in Secaucus for 30 years. Earlier, he had worked for Edison Brothers for 20 years.
He was a past vice president of Temple Sholom of West Essex, Cedar Grove, and its Brotherhood, and had also chaired its fund-raising committee. He instituted the temple’s Yom Hashoa program and was honored as its Man of the Year in 1981.
He was a member of the National Federation of Temple Brotherhoods and the Jewish Chautauqua Society, which advances the knowledge of Judaism to non-Jews.
Predeceased by his wife, Doris, he is survived by two sons, Jack and Bruce; his daughter, Karen Lava; and five grandchildren.
Services were held Nov. 7 with arrangements by Bernheim-Apter-Kreitzman Suburban Funeral Chapel, Livingston.
