Betty Eisenberg
Betty Eisenberg (Edelson) of Springfield died Sept. 12, 2014. Born in New York City and raised in East Orange, she resided in Union for 27 years before moving to Springfield in 1980.
For over 45 years, Mrs. Eisenberg was employed as a legal secretary.
She was a congregant of Temple Beth Ahm Yisrael of Springfield and its Hazak chapter. She was a life member of National Council of Jewish Women and Hadassah. In 2005, she was selected by the Springfield chapter of Hadassah as Woman of the Year and received the Myrtle Wreath Award. She became a patron of the Hadassah Medical Center in Jerusalem and later received the Hadassah Life Achievement Award.
She was also a member of Jewish Women International and for several years had volunteered at Overlook Hospital in Summit.
Predeceased by her husband, Samuel, in 1984, she is survived by her daughter, Ilene (Louis) Perl of Short Hills; her son, Lewis (Nancy) of Brookline, Mass.; five granddaughters; and nine great-grandchildren.
Services were held Sept. 14 with arrangements by Menorah Chapels at Millburn, Union.
