Charles Algazi
Charles Algazi, 91, of Trenton died March 21, 2012. He was born in Cairo and immigrated to the United States in 1966 to escape Egyptian anti-Semitism.
In Egypt Mr. Algazi opened a family Children’s Clothing Store, “Algazi,” which still exists under different ownership. After immigrating to the Trenton area, he provided accounting and bookkeeper services for Lucus Lumber in Levittown, Pa. He provided similar services for National Sponge Cushion Company in Trenton.
He was an active member of Congregation Brothers of Israel in Newtown, Pa., where he was president for several years.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Fortuna (“Toni”); two sons, Albert of Yardley, Pa., and Ernest of Parkland, Fla.; three daughters, Jacqueline Aguiv of Bat Yam, Israel, Jocelyne Balcher of Langhorne, Pa., and Danielle Algazi Brenner of Haddonfield; 10 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
Services were held March 22 with arrangements by Orland’s Ewing Memorial Chapel, Ewing. Memorial contributions may be made to Congregation Brothers of Israel.
