CLARFIELD
Vivian (Silberman) and Robert Clarfield of Manalapan celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary April 18, 2013. The couple was married in 1943 by Rabbi Hershel Cohen at the Avon Catering Hall. Mr. Clarfield was on leave at the time from the Merchant Marines, where he was serving in their support of the Allied war effort in the Atlantic.
Mr. Clarfield worked at the Budweiser plant in Newark for 47 years. The couple lived in Newark for many years and in West Orange before moving to Manalapan. They are members of Temple Shaari Emeth, Manalapan.
They are the parents of Steven Clarfield, PhD, and his wife, Patricia; and Robin Clarfield Tolvin; grandparents of Amanda Newell and her husband Edgar Newell, Julie Gordon, PhD, and her husband Michael Gordon, PhD, Joseph Dougherty, Sarah Clarfield, and David Clarfield; and great-grandparents of Ryan and Elizabeth Newell and Taylor Gordon.
