David Rothschild
David Emil Rothschild, 94, a longtime Millburn resident, died March 1, 2019. He was born in Newark.
Mr. Rothschild was an innovator in the field of rendering, founding Lincoln Farms, and was a vice president of Harrison Byproducts. He garnered three patents and co-founded the American Fats and Oils Association.
He received his bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from Cornell University.
He fought in World War II as a corporal in both the European and Pacific theaters, where he was in the 86th Infantry Division liberating Germany.
He served as chairman of the Millburn/Short Hills Democratic Club and as a delegate to the 1968 Democratic Convention. Later, he was vice president of the board of trustees, Beth Israel Hospitals.
Predeceased by his wife of 66 years, Carolyn Litwin Rothschild, he is survived by three children, Stephen, Ami, and Michael Rothschild; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Services were held March 3 with arrangements by Bernheim-Apter-Kreitzman Suburban Funeral Chapel, Livingston. Memorial contributions may be made to Beth Israel Hospitals (rwjbh.org/newark-beth-israel-medical-center/giving).
