Diversity day in Morristown
The Diversity Coalition of Morris County will host a celebration on Sunday, July 21, from noon to 5 p.m. on the Morristown Green. The free party will celebrate the county’s rich diversity.
More than 30 local organizations will join in the celebration, which will include musical performances all afternoon. The klezmer band Hester Street Troupe will perform at around noon, leading guests in a musical march around the Green. An interfaith service is set for 1 p.m.
Table on the lawn of the Presbyterian Church will feature food prepared by local restaurants and delicacies made by volunteers from the Diversity Coalition member organizations, including Morristown Jewish Center-Beit Yisrael.
The DCMC partners include Morristown Jewish Center–Beit Yisrael; Congregation B’nai Israel; Mount Freedom Jewish Center; the West Morris section of the National Council of Jewish Women; Temple B’nai Or; the Mayo Performing Arts Center; Atlantic Health; CASA of Morris and Sussex Counties; Congregation Adath Shalom; the Morris County prosecutor’s office, school district, sheriff’s office, and human relations commission; Autism NJ; Seton Hall University, and MAKOMNJ.
The Diversity Coalition of Morris County is a nonpolitical coalition of faith-based organizations and individuals who live, work, and serve in the greater Morris County area. Members share the belief that all people should be treated with dignity, respect, and understanding.
If it rains, Diversity Celebration Day will be held indoors at the Morristown United Methodist Church. For more information about the celebration, go to www.diversitymc.org/.
