Elliott K. Nelson
Elliott K. Nelson, 91, of West Orange died July 25, 2011. Born in New York City and raised in Newark, he lived in Elizabeth and moved to West Orange in 1970.
Mr. Nelson taught history for 30 years at Elizabeth High School and served as chairman of the history and social studies department. He was an evaluator and writer for American College Testing and a member of the National Education Association and the NJ Education Association.
He earned his undergraduate degree at Upsala College, East Orange, and his master’s degree at Kean University, Union.
He was a longtime member of Temple B’nai Jeshurun, Short Hills, and its brotherhood.
He is survived by his wife, Phyllis (Coopersmith); two daughters, Nancy Goldsmith and Barbara; and two grandchildren.
Services were held July 28 with arrangements by Bernheim-Apter-Kreitzman Suburban Funeral Chapel, Livingston.
