Emanuel Mullen

Emanuel H. “Manny” Mullen, 92, of Ocean died Jan. 26, 2013. He had also resided in Brooklyn.

Mr. Mullen ran NY NJ Cleaners and Dryers in Asbury Park. He also founded Monmouth Plastics.

He earned a bachelor’s degree from Michigan State College.

Mr. Mullen spent four years in General George S. Patton’s Army during World War II, serving as a forward observer in the field artillery. He left as a corporal and was decorated with a Bronze Star for bravery.

He was past chairman of the Employer’s Legislative Committee of Monmouth County and a member of the Society of Plastics Engineers. He was a founding member of the Jewish Community Center in Deal Park and chairman of the board of governors, and active in many other organizations.

Predeceased by his wife, Eileen, he is survived by his children, Laurie, David, Andrea, and Daniel; his sister, Blossom Robbins, and nine grandchildren.

Services were held Jan. 27 with arrangements by Bloomfield-Cooper Jewish Chapels, Ocean.
