Esther Kruger

Esther Kruger (Schwartz) of Livingston died March 12, 2014. Born in Hoboken, she grew up in New York City. She lived for a few years in Passaic and was a longtime resident of Linden before moving to Livingston 12 years ago.

Prior to having children, Mrs. Kruger was a bookkeeper in New York City for a number of companies, including Milbank, Tweed, Hope and Hadley. Later in life, she worked doing data entry for Supermarkets General, Carteret. After her retirement, she was active in the Margulies Senior Center at JCC MetroWest, West Orange, and the senior group at Congregation Agudath Israel, Caldwell. 

She is survived by two sons, Philip (Judy Levenstein) of Montville and Robert (Susan) of Rockville, Md.; her daughter, Ann (Seth) Leeb of South Orange; two sisters, Doris Lutwin of Philadelphia and Isabel Markowitz of Merrick, NY; and five grandchildren.

Services were held March 14 with arrangements by Jewish Memorial Chapel, Clifton. Memorial contributions may be made to Fresh Air Fund, 633 3rd Avenue, 14th Floor, New York, NY 10017; the Toby Shapiro Library Fund of Congregation Agudath Israel, Caldwell; or Friendship Circle, 10 Microlab Rd., Livingston.
