George Schneiderman
George Schneiderman, 96, of St. Petersburg, Fla., died Jan. 6, 2020. He was born in Newark and also had lived in Hillside and Elizabeth prior to relocating to Florida in 1974, where he resided in Lauderhill, Boca Raton, and St. Petersburg.
Mr. Schneiderman enlisted in the Navy in 1943, serving in Pacific campaigns as a Seabee. He was on Okinawa slated to be part of the invasion of the home islands of Japan as World War II ended.
Following the war, he and his high school best friend, Richard (Dick) Mautner, reopened OK Auto Radiator Works in 1946 in Newark. The business thrived and he later became a distributor for Daniel Radiator Corporation with warehouses in Broward and Miami-Dade counties.
Predeceased by his wife of 70 years, Dorothy (Dottie) Schenkel Schneiderman, he is survived by his son, Jeffrey; his daughter, Ellen Walker; a brother, Jerry (Gerald) Schneiderman; and four grandchildren.
Services were held Jan. 10 at Boca Raton Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made to Disabled American Veterans or American Cancer Society.
