Goodbye to a ‘Guardian’

We were greatly saddened to learn of the passing of Eric F. Ross (“Eric Ross, benefactor of local and global renown, dies at 91,” Sept. 16), whose life and exemplary philanthropic giving touched the lives of so many. We count ourselves fortunate to have known Mr. Ross, and for his dedicated support of the American Technion Society and the Technion-Israel Institute of Technology for more than two decades. He was a Technion Guardian, a distinction reserved for those who have reached the highest level of commitment to the university, and his belief in the importance of scientific education and research led him to establish the Lore Ross Nanotechnology Laboratories Complex in Chemical Engineering, named in honor of his wife, Lore, who died in 2009.

We extend our deepest sympathies to Mr. Ross’ daughter, Barbara Bermann, his son, Peter, and the entire Ross family.

Melvyn H. Bloom
Executive Vice President
American Technion Society
