Gussie Mandel
Gussie Mandel (Siegel), 101, of Piscataway died Feb. 8, 2019. Born and raised in New Brunswick, she lived in Highland Park until 2011. For the past eight years, she lived at the Parker House.
Mrs. Mandel worked in an unemployment office in New Brunswick and also managed a jewelry store, Flair Jewelers in Highland Park.
She was a member of Highland Park Conservative Temple-Congregation Anshe Emeth. She was involved with many activities, including Hadassah and Sisterhood. She was a choreographer for local shows and once danced for the Rockettes. She enjoyed walking and aerobics until age 93.
Predeceased by her husband of 70 years, Charles, in 2010, and a daughter-in-law, Lynn Mandel, she is survived by two sons, Matthew (Debbie) and Robert (Nadia); her daughter, Madeline Crass; a sister, Mildred Tanzman of Long Branch; four grandchildren; and a great-grandson.
Services were held Feb. 10 with arrangements by Crabiel Parkwest Funeral Chapel, New Brunswick. Memorial contributions may be made to Highland Park Conservative Temple-Congregation Anshe Emeth.
