Harold Novick

Harold Novick, 93, of Springfield, formerly of West Orange, died April 3, 2012. He was born in Salem, Mass.

A businessman, Mr. Novick was vice president of Camden Yarns of Lewiston, Maine; and New York City.

He attended Tufts University and The Fletcher School of International Law and Diplomacy.

He served as a first lieutenant in the U.S. Army during World War II.

He served on the board of trustees of Oheb Shalom Congregation, South Orange, and as the former general manager of the South Orange Symphony. He also served twice as president of the Berkley Tennis Club.

He is survived by his wife of more than 60 years, Miriam; two daughters, the Hon. Emily J. Novick of Brookline, Mass., and Cantor Martha Novick of Springfield; two brothers, Louis of Boston and Irving of Los Angeles; a sister, Pauline Flaxer of Massachusetts; and four grandchildren.

Services were held April 5 at Temple Emanu-El, Westfield, with arrangements by Menorah Chapels at Millburn, Union.
