Helen Gans Hines
Helen Gans Hines, 93, of Lantana, Fla., died Oct. 4, 2014. Born in Bradley Beach, she also had lived in South Orange and spent summers on Martha’s Vineyard, Mass. She moved to Lantana 10 years ago.
Mrs. Hines volunteered in the gift shop at Newark Beth Israel Hospital. She rose through many levels at the hospital for over 40 years, eventually becoming the first woman named to its board of directors.
She was affiliated with Temple Sharey Tefilo-Israel, South Orange. She was active in UJA of MetroWest, was a Lion of Judah member, and also belonged to other community organizations.
Predeceased by her husband, Leonard, in 1994, she is survived by her daughter, Gail Hines Schoenbach (Richard) of Boynton Beach, Fla.; and two sons, Andrew (Barbara) of Boonton and Jonathan (Olga) of Moscow and New York City; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
A memorial service was held Oct. 12. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Palm Beach County Foundation.
