Herbert Lieb
Dr. Herbert E. Lieb, 90, of Roseland died July 18, 2017. He was born and raised in Newark and raised his family in Maplewood. For 20 years, he spent winters in Long Boat Key, Fla.
Since 1954, Dr. Lieb served as chief of urology at St. Barnabas Medical Center, Newark Beth Israel Medical Center, and Clara Maas Hospital.
He attended South Side High School, Newark, and received his bachelor’s degree from Drew University, a master of science from Pennsylvania State University, and his medical degree from Chicago Medical School in 1954.
He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
He was a longtime member of Mountain Ridge Country Club, West Caldwell, where he served on its board.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Elaine Lazarus Lieb; two sons, Richard (Ellen) and Andrew (Debbie); and five grandchildren.
Services were held July 20 with arrangements by Bernheim-Apter-Kreitzman Suburban Funeral Chapel, Livingston.
