Herman Barchanowitz
Herman L. (Labe) Barchanowitz, 89, of West Orange died Nov. 22, 2011. He was born in Elizabeth and also had lived in Irvington.
Mr. Barchanowitz was a cantor for 18 years at Congregation Ahavath Zion, Maplewood. He was also a 30-year Met Life Insurance representative.
He was a member of B’nai B’rith and Workmen’s Circle.
He is survived by his wife, Eleanor (Krim); his children, Shelley Goldberg of Hellertown, Pa., and Jodi and Steven Goldfarb of Livingston; a brother, Emanuel Bauer; two sisters, Edith Slupski and Esther Netkin; and seven grandchildren.
Services were held Nov. 25 with arrangements by Menorah Chapels at Millburn, Union. Memorial contributions may be made to Foundation Peace-You are Love, P.O. Box 22, Hellertown, PA 18055.
