Hilda Lubetkin

Hilda Lubetkin, 101, of Somerset died Feb. 20, 2014. Born and raised in Newark, she resided in Linden and Monroe Township before moving to Somerset three years ago.

Mrs. Lubetkin was a children’s clothing buyer for Sears Roebuck in Newark.

She was a founding member of the Suburban Jewish Center in Linden and a life member of Deborah Hospital Foundation.

She was one of 41 centenarians at the largest gathering for the Guinness Book of World Records at the Regency Heritage Nursing facility in Somerset last May.

Predeceased by her husband, Leon, she is survived by two daughters, Joan Lubetkin of Monroe and Carole (Bernie) Koblentz of Westfield; a sister, Jessie Greenberg of Monroe; two grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Services were held Feb. 23 with arrangements by Mount Sinai Memorial Chapels, East Brunswick. Memorial contributions may be made to American Cancer Society, 2600 U.S. Hwy 1, North Brunswick, NJ 08902.
