If you will it…
Of course, the “it” that these guys dreamed of was not the creation of a state, but still it was implausible.
How can you be an army reservist in a country at war and still find the time and the strength to train for the Olympics? And Israel has hills, but they’re not the actual Alps. There is no Matterhorn there. Bobsledding? Really?
Yes, really. The Israeli bobsledding team is likely to qualify for the Olympics, surmounting both physical and bureaucratic challenges; presumably it’ll all be downhill from there.
The team is led by American-born Israeli Adam Edelman. This will be his second Olympics; he competed in skeleton in South Korea in 2018. He’s an MIT graduate, the brother of comedian and actor Alex Edelman, and, he says, the first Orthodox Jew to compete in the Winter Olympics.
