James Veltman

James Scott Veltman, 54, of West Orange died Oct. 15, 2015. He was born in Chicago and lived in Montclair before moving to West Orange in August.

Mr. Veltman worked at the Chicago Board of Trade, Jet International, American Foundation for the Blind, and Brite Air. He also owned his own recording company, Veltman Sound, for 15 years.

He graduated from Columbia College in Chicago. 

Among his interests, he enjoyed playing his guitar, collecting rare books, writing poetry, and composing music. 

He is survived by his wife, Cathy Hurwitz; his daughter, Natalie; his son, Devon; two brothers, Jeff and Jay Veltman; and two sisters, Debby and Sandi Veltman.

Services were held Oct. 20 with arrangements by J.L. Apter Memorial Chapels of Cedar Grove. Memorial contributions may be made to National Foundation for Transplants; one may also register to become an organ donor.
