Jerome Tannenbaum

Jerome Tannenbaum, 88, a longtime Millburn resident, died June 5, 2017. He was born in Irvington and also had a summer home in Siesta Key, Fla.

Mr. Tannenbaum had a 40-year career as an English teacher and guidance counselor at Irvington High School, where he coached football. He was adviser of the class of 1962 and was an honored attendee at their 50th class reunion.

He graduated from Weequahic High School in Newark. He earned a B.A. in history from Upsala College.

He served as a Marine from 1947 to 1951, partly as a telegraph operator in the Korean War.

He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Rita (Fischer); his son, Peter of New York City; two daughters, Julia (Scott) Obici of Annapolis, Md., and Inga (Benjamin) Schoenbrun of Arlington, Va.; and five grandchildren.

Services were held June 8 with arrangements by Menorah Chapels at Millburn, Union.
