Last month, Jewish Family Service of MetroWest NJ brought Passover foods and programming to older adults and Holocaust survivors.

“For many of the individuals we serve, the holidays can be an especially isolating time,” said Diane K. Squadron, PsyD, JFS CEO. “Making sure survivors and older adults feel supported and connected during the holiday is a critical part of how we serve our community.”

On March 31, JFS volunteers delivered more than 100 Passover meals and care packages to Holocaust survivors and isolated older adults receiving JFS Volunteer Services throughout Morris, Essex, and Union counties. The meal included brisket, health salad, a vegetable side dish, and macaroons. Accompanying care packages had Passover essentials and holiday items. Funding for the meal was by the Jewish Communal Fund, with the Jewish Federation of Greater MetroWest NJ supplying the care packages.

On March 24, 20 Holocaust survivors and caregivers gathered for a special Café Europa model seder led by Rabbi Mendel Solomon of Chabad of Short Hills at Oheb Shalom Congregation in South Orange.
