Joachim Schorr

Joachim Horst Schorr, 89, of Boca Raton, Fla., died Jan. 29, 2019. Born in Germany in 1933, his family immigrated to Palestine.

A student when Israel’s War of Independence broke out, he was enlisted to fight for the country’s establishment. He settled in New Jersey to raise his family, residing in Elizabeth, Springfield, and Warren before moving to New York City and eventually Florida.

Mr. Schorr was a real estate developer and the owner of Aspiring Associates, a family-owned real estate company in Hillsborough, retiring 15 years ago.

He earned a B.S. degree from University of California at Berkeley.

He was a member of Jewish Family Service of Central NJ, Solomon Schechter Day School (now Golda Och Academy), Jewish Federation, Israel Bonds, and Friends of AKIM USA.

He is survived by his wife, Adina (Zlotopolsky); two daughters, Ora Kriegstein of Huntington, N.Y., and Lesley Brooks of Springfield; his son, Gil of New York City; a sister, Yona Roubichek of Israel; and seven grandchildren.

Services were held Feb. 1 with arrangements by Menorah Chapels at Millburn, Union. Memorial contributions may be made to Jewish Family Service of Central NJ or Alzheimer’s Association.
