John Jennings

John F. Jennings III of Short Hills died July 21, 2013. He was born in Elizabeth.

Mr. Jennings practiced law for 50 years with offices in East Orange and Short Hills. He specialized in commercial, corporate, real estate, and aviation law.

He was a graduate of Rutgers University and Rutgers Law School.

He was a member of the Essex County, New Jersey, New York, American, and Lawyer Pilots bar associations. He was president of the N.C.A.S. Alumni Association and a Rutgers Federation representative for Rutgers School of Law.

A board member of the Millburn-Short Hills Chamber of Commerce, he was its general counsel for over 15 years and the chamber honored him with the Lifetime Achievement Award. He was also a board member of the Camptown Improvement District in Irvington.

He served in the United States Army and Reserves. He had his private pilot’s license and instrument-rated certificates and his own plane at Morristown Airport.

He is survived by his wife, Eleanor Brody Jennings; a brother, Tom of North Carolina; a sister, Patricia Hacker of New York City; and nieces and nephews.

Services were held July 25 with arrangements by Menorah Chapels at Millburn, Union.
