Josephine P. Laitman
Josephine Propp Laitman, 95, died May 15, 2014. She was born in New York City.
For 60-plus years, Mrs. Laitman played violin in various orchestras and, as a trained singer, she performed at numerous public occasions.
She trained in violin, piano, and voice at Manhattan School of Music, studied dance with Marjorie Ward (Penny Marshall’s mother), and graduated from Hunter College at age 19.
She is survived by her husband of almost 75 years, Lt. Col. Milton “Mickey”; three daughters, Marcie Laitman (Morris) Kotler, Lynn Laitman (Donald) Siebert, and Lori Laitman (Bruce) Rosenblum; a brother, Theodore Propp; seven grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Services were held May 22 with arrangements by J.L. Apter Memorial Chapels of Somerville. Memorial contributions may be made to West Point Jewish Chapel Fund, 750 Merritt Rd., West Point, NY 10996, or Hadassah.
