Karel Wahler
Karel Wahler, 91, of West Caldwell died Sept. 27, 2010. Born in Brno, Czechoslovakia, he came to the United States in 1938.
Mr. Wahler started a family chocolate business, Karel de Paris in Newark, and later became an executive at the Motor Club of America insurance company.
He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
He was a founding member and the first president of Temple Emanu-El of West Essex, Livingston.
He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Judy; three sons, Bill of Chicago, Chuck of Grand Canyon, Ariz., and Jim of Livingston; two daughters, Karen Solomon of Millburn and Jill Cunningham of Ticonderoga, NY; his sister, Edith; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Services were held Sept. 29 with arrangements by Menorah Chapels at Millburn, Union.
