Karen Michele Strausberg Castor, 59, of Springfield died May 17, 2017. Born in New Brunswick, she grew up in Livingston and lived in Springfield for the past 21 years. 

Mrs. Castor worked for the past nine years as the budget director for Aerosoles Shoes in Edison. 

She held a B.A. from Rider University in business and an MBA in finance from Rutgers University. 

She was a member and past treasurer of Temple Sha’arey Shalom of Springfield. Active in Karate World of Kenilworth, she earned a 3rd degree black belt. She was also a reader for the blind. 

Predeceased by her father, Arthur Strausberg, she is survived by her husband, Mark Allen Castor; a son, Benjamin Castor of Springfield; her mother, Irene Strausberg (Silver); a brother, Jerome Strausberg of Bel Air, Md.; and a sister, Judy Nemiroff of Union. 

Services were held May 19 with arrangements by Ross’ Shalom Chapels, Springfield. Memorial contributions may be made to National Foundation for Cancer Research, 4600 East West Highway, Suite 525, Bethesda, MD 20814.
