Audrey Sasson, executive director of Jews for Racial and Economic Justice (JFREJ), is skeptical about armed guards providing protection to synagogue goers. “We have to know that having armed guards at a synagogue does not make all Jews feel safe,” she said in “Politics coloring a tribal divide” (Oct. 17). I note that the JFREJ’s website provides neither an address nor a phone number for the organization, an invisibility not available to synagogues. In addition, on the JFREJ website is a picture of members of that organization demonstrating with Rev. Al Sharpton. If this is representative of the alliances that Sasson advocates for protection, perhaps synagogues will have to rely on armed guards.
