Leonard Posnock

Leonard (“Lenny”) H. Posnock, 83, of Monroe Township died June 30, 2020. He was born in 1936 to Lillian (Schwartzstein) and Benjamin Posnock of Linden. He raised his family in Clark.

Mr. Posnock was the president of Shofar Kosher Foods, which became the family business.

He attended Tulane University, where he received his business degree.

Active in Jewish causes, he was an active member of Temple Beth O’r/Beth Torah in Clark. He also served as president of the former Jewish Federation of Central New Jersey (which since merged with United Jewish Communities of MetroWest NJ to become Jewish Federation of Greater MetroWest NJ), in which he led dozens of missions to Israel, Russia, and other countries in need. He pioneered countless projects, including orphanages, playgrounds, and bomb shelters from start to finish.

He was also very involved with Chabad House of Monroe Township, where he and his wife celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary.

Predeceased by his daughter, Michelle Sion, he is survived by his wife of 62 years, Freida (Pressner); his son, Stuart (Lee); his son-in-law, Koresh Sion; two sisters, Diane Sommer and Sandra Stern; and six grandchildren.
