Louis Finkel
Louis Samuel Finkel, 92, of Weston, Fla., died Oct. 28, 2012. Born in Newark, he lived in Highland Park prior to moving to Florida in 1986.
Mr. Finkel became an official court reporter in Hudson County in 1957. He was appointed supervisor of court reporters for Middlesex County in 1963, where he served until his retirement in 1983. He had also served as president of the court reporters’ association.
He graduated from The Heffley/Browne School of Court Reporting in Brooklyn.
He was a World War II Army Air Corps veteran, where he served as a radio operator and gunner on a B-25 bomber in India. He was also trained as a Loran operator and cryptographer.
He was a member of Anshe Emeth Memorial Temple, New Brunswick.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Eileen (Landow); two daughters, Carol (Joel) Savitz of Plantation, Fla., and Judi (Howard) Bland of Weston, Fla.; his son, David (Christine) of Gurnee, Ill; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Military services were held on Oct. 30 with arrangements by Star of David Chapel, Lauderdale, Fla.
