Lucille Chanin
Lucille Schechter Chanin (Davis) of Livingston died Feb. 24, 2019. She was born in Newark.
Mrs. Chanin performed research at Memorial Sloan Kettering with colorectal cancer pioneer Dr. Martin Lipkin. At St. Barnabas Medical Center, she worked in the low vision clinic with Dr. Gerald Fonda and established its first genetic counseling practice, while also collaborating with the Craniofacial Treatment Center. Later, she consulted with the State of Arizona as it developed its initial genetic counseling program.
She graduated from Columbia High School, Connecticut College, Columbia University’s Teachers College, and Sarah Lawrence College’s Human Genetics program.
Predeceased by her first husband, Robert Schechter, in 1985, she married Seymour Chanin in 1993. She is survived by two daughters, Nancy (Jim Hochberg) and Linda (Ofer Warshavsky); five grandsons; and Mr. Chanin’s children.
Private services were held with arrangements by Bernheim-Apter-Kreitzman Suburban Funeral Chapel, Livingston.
