Marvin Facher

Marvin L. Facher, 92, died April 24, 2012. Born in Jersey City, he resided in Maplewood and Short Hills for much of his life.

Mr. Facher was the chairman and chief executive officer of America on Wheels, a chain of roller skating rinks throughout the East Coast. He was a leader in the roller skating industry and served in many national positions, including as president of the Roller Skating Association.

He was a graduate of the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.

He served during World War II as a member of the 5th Air Force on New Guinea, Leyte, and Japan.

He was active in many charities, serving as a national vice president of the Muscular Dystrophy Association and appearing on its national telethon. He was a member of Temple B’nai Abraham, Livingston, and its men’s club.

He is survived by his wife of more than 62 years, Lois; two daughters, Marcy Schwartz and Lauren Iselin; six grandchildren; and a great-granddaughter.

Services were held April 25 with arrangements by Bernheim-Apter-Kreitzman Suburban Funeral Chapel, Livingston. Memorial contributions may be made to Temple B’nai Abraham, Livingston.
