Mary Gladstone

Mary Gladstone, 92, of Maplewood died Dec. 29, 2010. Born in New Haven, Conn., she lived there until age eight, and then lived in Newark and West Orange before moving to Maplewood seven years ago.

Mrs. Gladstone was a Superior Court Clerk at the Essex County Courthouse who had worked her way up to a supervisory level, retiring at age 75 after 25 years of service. She had previously been an insurance broker for many years.

She received academic distinction throughout her educational years, earning a master’s degree from Kean University, Union.

She was a member of Dorot Zion and Labor Zionists.

Predeceased by her husband of almost 50 years, Herbert, she is survived by her children, Julian of Newtown Square, Pa., and Stuart of Livingston; two daughters, Susan Gladstone of Long Branch and Ruth Harris of Spring Lake; six grandchildren; a great-grandchild; and her partner for over 13 years, Herbert Tuteur.

Services were held Jan. 2 with arrangements by Menorah Chapels at Millburn, Union.
