Michael Harris
Dr. Michael Harris, 75, of Mount Pleasant, S.C., formerly of Green Brook, died Dec. 1, 2019. The son of the late David Hershkowitz and Elaine Tessler Hershkowitz, he was born in Newark.
An ophthalmologist, he opened his own practice in Livingston, serving the community for 43 years.
He graduated from Rutgers University, New Brunswick, and continued his training at SUNY Upstate Medical Center in Syracuse, N.Y. He did a year of general medicine at Jackson Memorial in Miami and his residency at Albert Einstein Hospital in New York.
He served in the Marines as a medical officer.
He is survived by his wife, Gail; three sons, Kenneth (Meka) Harris of Holmdel, Richard Harris of Boston, and Trevor Beston of Danbury, Conn.; and three grandchildren.
