Milton Fischgrund
Milton L. Fischgrund, 85, died in Pompton Plains on Sept. 25, 2018. He was born in Franklin.
Dr. Fischgrund was one of the original founders of Pediatric Medical Group, which served over 27,000 children in Elizabeth. During this time, he was on staff at St. Barnabas Medical Center, Union Hospital, and Elizabeth General.
He retired in 1997.
He graduated from Franklin High School in 1950, and spent the summer of 1952 working on the pipeline in Alaska. He graduated from Rutgers University in June 1954, where he was a member of the ZBT social fraternity. He obtained his doctorate from New York Medical College in May 1958.
He was honorably discharged as a captain in the Medical Corps in July 1963. While in the service he was a medical escort for congressional committees traveling in Europe, serving as their private physician.
He loved antique cars and owned a 1964 Silver Cloud Rolls Royce, along with a 1967 English Alvis that he spent hours washing and polishing.
He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Sheila Arlene (Knoller) Fischgrund; three daughters, Karen Fischgrund, Alisa (Michael) Berkman, and Stacy (Ron) Klein; his son, David (Wendy) Kane; a brother, Marvin Fischgrund; and 10 grandchildren.
Services were held Sept. 27 with arrangements by Bernheim-Apter-Kreitzman Suburban Funeral Chapel, Livingston.
