Miriam (“Mitzie”) Husid, 91, of Livingston died Jan. 11, 2020. She grew up in Brooklyn and raised her family in West Orange.
Mrs. Husid had a 26-year career at Jewish Federation of Greater MetroWest NJ, where she spearheaded many fund-raising campaigns, missions to Israel, and other special events.
She served on the boards of the Rachel Coalition and Jewish Association for Special Needs. Her many interests included travel, painting, tennis, swimming, Mahjong, and numerous volunteer activities.
Predeceased by her husband, Myron, she is survived by two daughters, Alison (Hal) Strausberg of Newton, Mass., and Tracy (David) Gavant of Hoboken; a brother, Sam Farber of Springfield; a sister, Harriet Goldstein of Oakdale, N.Y.; and four grandchildren.
Services were held Jan. 13 with arrangements by Menorah Chapels at Millburn, Union. Memorial contributions may be made to Jewish Federation of Greater MetroWest NJ.
