Morton Goldberg

Morton Goldberg, 90, of Mountainside died Jan. 12, 2014. Born in the Bronx, he lived in Scotch Plains from 1989 to 2011, and also lived in Royal Palm Beach and West Palm Beach, Fla., from the 1980s until 2011, when he relocated to Mountainside.

Mr. Goldberg worked in the printing industry for over 40 years. He was the co-founder and co-owner of Bregg Data Forms, Inc., Hauppauge, NY, from 1971 until the late ’90s, when he retired.

He served in the U.S. Army during World War II as an engineer with the rank of corporal. He landed on Omaha Beach during the Normandy invasion of Europe by the Allies and participated in the liberation of some of the concentration camps in Germany. He received the Victory Medal and the European Theater Medal.

He was a member of Jewish War Veterans’ Neumann-Goldman Post #69, Bronx. He volunteered at the V.A. in Florida’s Palm Beach County for many years as well as for the City of Hope in California.

Predeceased by his wives, Jean (Wolf) and Alma (Berkowitz), and his son, Harold, he is survived by his stepdaughter, Meryl (Ron) Glassman of Mountainside; and his daughter-in-law, Merylee Goldberg of Staten Island. Services were held Jan. 13 with arrangements by Ross’ Shalom Chapels, Springfield.
