Mostly Music series in Westfield schedules spring chamber concerts
Mostly Music is bringing two Sunday afternoon chamber music concerts to Westfield this spring. They’re set for April 6 and May 4 at 3:30 p.m. at Temple Emanu-El in Westfield. On April 6, violinist Arnaud Sussmann and cellist Paul Watkins will join violist and Mostly Music artistic director Paul Neubauer. They will perform a Fugue by W.F. Bach that Mozart arranged for string trio. The program will also include a string trio written by Jean Françaix in 1933, as well as Gideon Klein’s only string trio, which was composed in 1944, when Klein was imprisoned in the Terezín prison camp. The concert will conclude with the Divertimento in Eb Major by Mozart.
On May 4 violinists Ani Kavafian, Kerry McDermott, and Oliver Neubauer, violist Paul Neubauer, cellist Fred Sherry, and pianist Janice Carissa will present the premiere of For Anyone Else for viola and piano by George Tsontakis. This will be followed by Brahms’ Quintet for Piano and Strings, and will conclude with Concerto for Piano, Violin, and String Quartet by Ernest Chausson.
Tickets are $50; they’re available both online and at the door. Season subscriptions cost $200. Students 21 or younger have free admission. For more information, go to mostlymusic.org, email Mostlymusicnj@gmail.com, or call (908) 789-8578.
