Naomi Shor
Naomi Shor (Greenstein), 101, of Fanwood died July 31, 2014. Born in Brooklyn, she grew up in the Bronx.
Mrs. Shor taught for several years in a high school in Manhattan.
She was a graduate of Hunter College, where she majored in math and physics. Unable to find employment as a mathematics teacher, she enrolled in Columbia University and received a master’s degree in speech and English.
She was active in many Jewish community organizations. She was president of the Women’s Division of the YM-YWHA and was very active with the sisterhood of Temple B’nai Israel in Elizabeth.
Predeceased by her husband, Morris, she is survived by her children, Judith Beinstein of Cranford and David Shor of Chatham; three grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Services were held Aug. 4 with arrangements by Higgins and Bonner Echo Lake Funeral Home, Westfield.
