Nathan Schanen
Nathan L. Schanen, 92, of Monroe Township died Jan. 9, 2015. Born in the Bronx, he resided there before moving to Linden with his family and later to Monroe.
Mr. Schanen worked as a photo-retoucher at Art Color in Dunellen, and later in life as a real estate agent.
He served overseas in the Second World War as a 1st Lieutenant in the 10th Mountain Division.
He was a founding member of Suburban Jewish Center in Linden and was an active member of Monroe’s Clearbrook community.
His wife of 72 years, Harriet (Kanarick), died seven weeks after him. Predeceased by a son, Richard (Kerri), he is survived by his daughter, Norlyn (Dennis) Kessler; a son, Mitchell (Debra); and eight grandchildren.
Services were held Jan. 11 with arrangements by Bloomfield-Cooper Jewish Chapels, Manalapan.
