Newark cemetery visiting day
It is traditional to visit the gravesites of loved ones during the High Holidays. The Jewish Federation of Greater MetroWest NJ plans its 37th annual Newark Cemetery Visiting Day, in memory of Samuel M. Convissor, on Sunday, September 28, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
The federation works with the Essex County sheriff’s Department and the Newark and East Orange police departments to provide additional security so that all visitors can feel comfortable at these historic Jewish cemeteries of Newark: B’nai Abraham & Union Field, Grove Street & 20th Street, Talmud Torah, and Mclellan Street Cemeteries.
Register at JFedgmw.org/visiting-day. Email the manager of the Jewish Historical Society, Karen Auerbach Bocaletti, at kbocaletti@jfedgmw.org with questions.
