Norman Konner

Norman Konner, 83, of Montclair died June 9, 2014. He was born in Glen Ridge and raised in Pine Brook. 

Mr. Konner devoted his professional life to Kevah Konner, Inc., a school bus company his father founded in 1936. He joined the business in 1953 and ran the company for 50 years until it was sold in 2010. 

He graduated from Grover Cleveland High School in Caldwell and Rutgers University, where he played saxophone in the marching band. 

He spent many summers in New Jersey’s Chadwick Beach Island, fishing and boating. He was a longstanding member of Congregation Agudath Israel in Caldwell and Crestmont Country Club in West Orange, as well as a board member of the YM-YWHA of Metropolitan NJ (now JCC MetroWest). 

Predeceased by his wife of 56 years, Sandra, in 2010, he is survived by five children, Lori, Lynn, Scott, Kevah, and Benn; his daughters-in-law, Michele and Linda; his son-in-law, Jack; and nine grandchildren. 

Services were held June 12 with arrangements by Bernheim-Apter-Kreitzman Suburban Funeral Chapel, Livingston.
