Paul Amsterdam

Paul Scott Amsterdam, 62, of South Orange died March 6, 2017. He grew up in West Orange.

Mr. Amsterdam worked with television producer Norman Lear in California and Barry and Fran Weissler’s National Artists Management Company on the East Coast.

He graduated from Newark Academy in Livingston and University of Michigan in 1976. 

Involved in numerous community service projects, he served as a board member for the Cerebral Palsy Foundation of NJ in Belleville. His work as a medical services consultant helped to provide evaluation for services and the supply of specialized medical equipment, and he spent over 35 years providing care to people with disabilities. 

He is survived by his wife, Melanie Drucker Amsterdam; his children, Alex and Megan; his parents, Judie and Stanley Amsterdam of West Orange; and his siblings, Wendy and Leslie Amsterdam. 

Services were held March 8 at Congregation B’nai Jeshurun, Short Hills. Memorial contributions may be made to Cerebral Palsy Foundation of NJ at 1st Cerebral Palsy of NJ, 7 Sanford Ave., Belleville, NJ 07109.
