Pauline Bender
Pauline Bender (Rothstein), 102, of Maplewood died Aug. 31, 2012. Born in Jersey City, she lived in South Orange and Manalapan before moving to Maplewood five years ago.
Before her retirement in 1974, Mrs. Bender was employed as a title clerk for the Newark Board of Education for 12 years.
She was active in Hadassah in Essex County, the sisterhood of Congregation Beth Torah, and choir groups.
Predeceased by her husband, Abe, she is survived by two daughters, Ruth Goldstein of Hackensack and Toby Staenberg of Somerset; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Services were held Sept. 4 with arrangements by Menorah Chapels at Millburn, Union.
